Today, I am sharing my best kept secret with you: my favourite breeches. These are my top 5 favourite breeches that I would absolutely die on a hill for any time, any day. These are the breeches I reach for every ride, and the only breeches I will show in. I have had these breeches for multiple years and bought backups for the backups, so yes you can trust they really are THAT incredible. Please do not sell them out.

Starting off strong with one of my favourite brands, PS Of Sweden. Full disclosure, I am partnered with PS Of Sweden to try their products & give my feedback on them. That being said, I have been sent nearly every pair of their breeches ever made over the last 2 years to test out, and these are by far my all-time favourite! The material is buttery soft and smooth, definitely more similar to legging material, super lightweight, concealing, and compression type material that sucks everything in. They come in so many colours too, except for white… I am begging PSOS to make these in white for competitions. They are pull-on and high-waisted with belt loops, deep thigh pockets to hold all the things, faux back pockets, and full seat silicone grip that is SUPER grippy. Like imagine sitting on full buffalo saddle with Effax leather-grip-stick rubbed all over on your derriere. That is how grippy they are, no joke. These fit true to size, I am an XS / 23-24” inch waist for reference. If you are in-between sizes, size up. These wash super easily and stains come out easily, and they hold their silicone grip perfectly through numerous washes.

These breeches get a bonus star solely because of the SPARKLES! If you know me, you know I love everything bold and blingy. I mean Hello? I ride a big flashy paint horse decked out head to hoof in pink… If you want breeches that bring a WOW-factor, these are the way to go. The material is buttery soft and smooth, they are thicker than the PSOS Juliette tights but still light and breathable. The material feels closer to a traditional breech material oppose to the legging material (which I know some prefer). These come in beige, white, black, navy, burgundy, every core colour. They are not compression feeling, they are just regular material very comfortable but still conceal. There is no transparency in the material! They run true to size, if you are in-between sizes I would actually size down because the material is very stretchy. I am a size XXS / 23-24” inch waist for reference. The waist is between mid and high-rise. They also have belt loops, faux back pockets, side thigh pockets, and the front zips up. These are not as grippy as my PSOS Juliette Tights, but they are above average level of grip. The whites also are not the easiest to wash, they do stain, even after being soaked and washed several times unfortunately. I would also say the silicone loses a bit of their stickiness/grip after a few washes.

These breeches were my #2 until FRE came out with their Pro 2.0 breeches. The material is very soft, smooth, and very stretchy, it is closer to legging material than traditional breeches, and a bit thicker than the PSOS Juliette tights but still lightweight and breathable. Unlike the last two pairs, these have a pull-on and mid-rise waist. Still with belt loops, faux back pockets, and side thigh pocket. The grip is quite strong and excellent quality, I would say it is comparable to the strength of the PSOS Juliette tights in the grip. They wash great too, do not lose their grip, and the whites do not stain at all! They also come in many colours which is excellent. Unfortunately, the sizing runs a bit wonky, which was a surprise to me. This style specifically runs large as the material is very stretchy. I got size XXS and they were still a bit loose (I am 23-24” waist for reference). I wear a belt and it is no problem. But if you are very petite, these may not work for you. However, the other styles like Function breeches from this brand run VERY small. I ordered XXS and it was almost suffocatingly tight.

I love these breeches. They truly are a hybrid combining the flattering design of a breech and the material feels like that of a legging. The material is very lightweight and thin which is great for hot & humid summer days, but not optimal for cold weather. The overall design is very flattering with a high waist, belt loops, faux back pockets, deep front pockets, and the front zips up. These are extremely stretchy so it does make them fit generously. I ordered XXS and feel as if they could have been tighter at the waist and derriere. The inseam length and fit everywhere else was good. The grip is above average, but does not compare to PSOS or MD. They wash very easily though, maintain their stickiness/grip, and do not stain!

PS Of Sweden has made it onto this list twice! They actually almost made it three times to be honest. If you love a traditional breech, this is the pair for you. They are soft, smooth, concealing, flattering, SO soft and comfortable. The reason I prefer legging-type breeches over traditional breeches is mostly the material. So for me to like these is saying something. The material is also easy to wash and stain resistant. The design is very feminine and flattering, the design is really gorgeous very demure. Features a high waist, belt loops, faux back pockets, front pockets, elastic ankle, front zip up and beautiful silicone grip. The grip on these breeches is not as strong or intense as the Juliette tights, but it is still great quality and it is wash resistant. The size runs a bit large, I get an XS (I am 23-24” inch waist for reference). But I find that all PSOS breeches, not tights, do run large. Now, there are only 2 cons with these breeches: 1) They are a bit pricier, being the most expensive breeches on my list, 2) They only come in 3 colours, none of them being beige or white! So you cannot compete in these, only school. Very unfortunate but I hope PSOS will release more colours!
